Dendritic configuration (or tree-shaped configurations) is ubiquitous in nature and likely to arise in both animate and inanimate flow systems (e.g., lungs and river basins). Why is it so important? Is there a principle from which this configuration can be deduced? In this review paper, we show that these systems own two of the most important properties of fractals that are self-similarity and scaling. Their configuration do not develop by chance. It’s occurrence is a universal phenomenon of physics covered by a principle. Here we also show that the emergence of dendritic configuration in flow systems constitutes a basic supportive flow path along which “order” need to persist is propagated.

Comparison Density and Fractal Dimension of Drainage Networks in Different Scales and Precision Different (Case Study: Ilam Watersheds)

Every phenomena in the nature, despite the complexity of the subject, has certain rules and regulations. River pattern and behavior as one of the most complex natural phenomena to this is not an exception. Depending on geomorphologic, climatic, topographic and erosive conditions, the waterways exhibit different patterns and behaviors. One of the parameters which can be achieved using the comple...

Constructal design of tree-shaped conductive pathways for cooling a heat generating volume

Constructal design is used to study heat removal from a square heated body with a tree shaped high thermal conductivity pathways embedded in the body. The objective is to minimize the defined maximum dimensionless temperature difference for the body. The thermal conductivity of the body is low, and there is a uniform heat generation on it. The volume of the body is fixed. The amount of high con...

Note on constructal theory of organization in nature

In analyses of engineering systems, fundamental quest remains the distribution of certain entities (matter, energy) into the space. Thus certain definite forms are generated to serve a specific purpose. Bejan s constructal theory specifically deals with such optimal geometrical constructions. In this present article, equipartition theory is revisited from macroscopic standpoint. It is noted tha...

ریخت‌شناسی تورمالین در گرانیت‌های مشهد (g2) با استفاده از آنالیز فراکتال و تئوری اجتماع با انتشار محدود (DLA)

Based on field observations, tourmalines in Mashhad leucogranites are divided into nodules and dendritic. Fractal geometry is a tool for measuring of irregular shapes. Based on the square method, that is one of the tools of fractal geometry; between fractal dimension and irregular shapes is a direct relationship. Therefore, objects with further irregularities have larger fractal dimension. Tour...

Fractal Population Ecology Theory

Abstract Purpose - The aim of this paper is to describe the population ecology theory through fractal thinking, an emergent human operating system that is creative, adaptive, healthy, and evolutionary; furthermore, a parallel is drawn between the population ecology model and the fractal structure. Top-down hierarchies are typically characterized by command and control systems of the authority t...
